The paper backing provides smooth operation and durability. The abrasive side features a semi-closed coat structure that provides greater grain density to achieve finer finishes than open coat belts. This belt also features dust management technology that reduces static charge in the dust particles, allowing them to be pulled away when coupled with an efficient dust collection system.

3M™ Paper Belt 466UZ uses silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low pressure applications such as final finishing in whitewood sanding. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish.
