Strong, Thin and Smooth for Flexible Auto Part Repair Featuring a laminate of strong structural gauze and a plastic release film, 3M™ Reinforcement Patch is designed for backside reinforcement of flexible plastic and composite auto components in collision repair. Patch material is excellent for reinforcing cracks and holes in bumpers, fasciae and other flexible contoured components before sanding and repainting. This thin patch cuts easily to size and delivers a combination of strength, flexibility and absorbency for use with two-part urethane adhesives and other plastic repair materials. Its open construction allows for quick saturation, which is critical when using repair materials with working times as fast as 90 seconds. It also allows for the repair adhesive to slightly bleed through the crack or hole, helping to solidify the repair back to front — in many cases, the repair can be even stronger than the original auto component. More workable than glass cloth or mat, this structural gauze is thin enough to prevent bulging, even when used in multiple layers for added strength. The plastic release liner removes cleanly and helps technicians apply the patch without touching wet repair areas.
