Resin-reinforced for added strength and durability, especially during edge work
Open web is spongy and responsive, helping to minimize gouging or denting of the part
Open web is load resistant, minimizing buildup of debris and prolonging abrasive service life
Swiftly cleans and blends welds and removes a variety of surface contaminants
Coarse grade silicon carbide cuts sharp but leaves a fine finish
Use for cleaning welds, removing corrosion, rust, scale, and paints
Swiftly Remove Surface Contaminants The weld ripples, spatter and discoloration that result when fusing or joining metal parts are a natural consequence of a job well done. The Standard Abrasives™ Type 27 Cleaning Pro Disc was designed to take your hard work one step further and remove the unwanted blemishes that may result from welding or other applications.
Our Standard Abrasives™ Type 27 Cleaning Pro Disc combines silicon carbide mineral and non-woven nylon fibers using a resin bond. Additional grain and resin reinforcement heighten the abrasive's aggressiveness, so it won't fray on workpiece edges. Among abrasive minerals, silicon carbide breaks down faster than aluminum oxide but is coarser and harder, so it can cut swiftly. These characteristics make it well suited for rapid removal of surface contaminants. The abrasive is ideal for blending and cleaning welds, removing corrosion, rust, scale paints, varnishes and sealants from the substrate. Perhaps the most desirable feature of all, it produces a fine finish on the workpiece.
Benefits of Open Web Abrasives The spongy open web that comprises Standard Abrasives™ Type 27 Cleaning Pro Disc is buoyant and responsive. It's flexible enough to respond to surface imperfections without gouging the part and its ability to react helps it move in, over and around difficult to reach surfaces. The non-woven nylon fibers break down slowly, because they are resin reinforced. As the fibers break down, new abrasive mineral is exposed so you get a consistent cut — part after part. Moreover, gaps in between the fibers allow swarf to escape, so debris won't clog the abrasive. Preventing wear from loading helps prolong abrasive service life.

Tips for Optimal Use A Type 27 disc has a depressed center with a raised hub. The sunken flange / lock nut attaches to the power tool, and the disc may be used with a random orbital sander or die grinder. Its depressed design helps with right angles and hard-to-reach areas. Some operators appreciate the angle of a Type 27 disc for flat surfaces as well. Users should be careful to follow the recommended operating speeds to ensure optimal performance and safety.
While welds, rust and contaminants are a natural part of metal aging and metal work, they don't have to prevent or impede a lasting luster. The Standard Abrasives™ Type 27 Cleaning Pro Disc helps
