When using a Duo-Pak (DP) size adhesive, rely on 3M dispensing equipment (PDF, 1.8 Mb) for convenient and accurate metering, mixing and dispensing.
Flexible, Fast and Easy With 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Polyurethane Sealant DP5001, you have an extremely flexible solution for repairing rubber belts, tires and other applications where fast cure and extreme flexibility are needed. The Duo-Pak cartridges keep the two components separated until ready for mixing to maximize working time. When you press the trigger, the components of 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Polyurethane Sealant DP5001 (PDF, 15.39 Mb) are properly metered and mixed in a 1:1 ratio, resulting in a self-leveling liquid that cures rapidly. Both the mixing nozzle and applicator are required for dispensing from the Duo-Pak cartridge and are sold separately.
Suggested Applications
Repairing tears and worn spots in rubberized fabric belts
Rubber repair
Protection of belt fasteners to prevent wear of splices
Repair of conveyor belts in mines
Fast cure sealing applications
1 Minute Work Life Provides Fast Application And Repair Times 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Polyurethane Sealant DP5001 is designed to be fast-setting and reduce maintenance and downtime for repairs with its one minute work life. Tack-free time for a 10 g, 1/6" thick bead @ 77°F (25°C) is 15 minutes and the sealant will fully cure in 12 hours. The tough 100% urethane product is abrasion resistant and remains flexible through a range of temperatures extremes, from 250°F (121°C) to as low as -60°F (-51°C). An automatic one-step mixing and dispensing system decreases waste and produces a balanced, low-viscosity liquid in an easy-to-use, odorless paste for an effective, workplace-friendly solution
Understanding Urethane Adhesives Two part urethane adhesives (PDF, 1.36 Mb) cure chemically, rather than relying on moisture from the air. Because of this, they can cure quickly with no depth of cure issues in contrast to one-part urethane adhesive sealants. Urethane adhesives will bond most common materials such as wood, metals, rubbers, leather, tile and glass, many plastics, concrete and more.
The versatility of urethane adhesives is exhibited in the different formulations that have varying cured properties such as different levels of stiffness or flexibility, open time and cure speed, and hardness. They can cure to a relatively rigid or highly flexible state to meet a wide range of requirements. In either finished state, urethane adhesives will maintain bond strength integrity through variable environmental factors such as temperature, moisture and chemical exposure.
